Kadam leads the debate on the development of South Asian dance and music as forms connecting people and places and encouraging the sharing of artistic values across cultures.

Based at the Hat Factory in Luton, Kadam plays a local and regional role in supporting classes, workshops and performances and providing artist development in  conjunction with the Hat Factory.

Kadam publish Pulse: the leading magazine for South Asian dance and music with a global outlook. In addition Kadam runs the only national choreography course for South Asian dancers- Unlocking Creativity.

Shades of Love

Kadam presents the Odissi Ensemble in Shades of Love showcasing the classical Indian dance style of Odissi.
Shades of Love premieres at the Hat Factory, Luton, 17th November 2011. Odissi is recognized for its sculptural poses and lyrical articulation of the body. Intricate rhythms and detailed hand gestures join with evocative expression. In an evening of powerful and vibrant group pieces and reflective and intimate solos, the Odissi Ensemble explores the various moods of love from sensual to spiritual, drawing both from ancient narratives and personal insight to give a rich and varied experience. A new generation of technically astute Odissi artists from diverse backgrounds have come together to form a company that aims to increase the profile of Odissi in the UK, Shades of Love is their first production as a company.

22nd September 2011, 7.30pm The Hat Factory, Luton Kadam presents an a program of classical dance with kathak’s rising star. Hat Factory Associate Artist, Aakash Odedra will perform a triple bill of kathak including his own creative work alongside choreography by renowned kathak maestro Kumudini Lakhia. Ranging from the evocative devotional poetry of Meerabai to the abstract play of rhythm and the power and mysticism of Sufi music and poetry, this is an evening not to be missed! In the intimate space of the 90 seat studio theatre, Kadam promotes at least one high quality South Asian dance program every season at the Hat Factory, Luton.
